Mission statement
L’organisation de développement de la jeunesse Sunu Thiossane, basée au Sénégal, en Afrique de l’Ouest, se consacre à l’autonomisation des jeunes par l’accès à des programmes éducatifs de qualité et à des opportunités de transformation. Notre objectif est de doter les jeunes des compétences nécessaires pour devenir des citoyens du monde, en leur permettant de faire des choix de vie éclairés et positifs. Grâce à une programmation tout au long de l’année, nous favorisons un environnement où les étudiants peuvent apprendre, grandir et devenir des acteurs du changement au sein de leurs communautés.
Overview of year-round programmes
Notre organisation propose un ensemble complet de programmes conçus pour répondre aux besoins des jeunes en matière d’éducation et de développement. Nous mettons l’accent sur les échanges culturels, l’apprentissage de l’anglais et l’aide à l’accès à l’université, afin que les élèves disposent des outils nécessaires pour réussir dans un monde globalisé.
Program 1: Afterschool Program
Notre programme extrascolaire intègre l’immersion en anglais, l’éducation artistique et le programme STEM, ce qui permet aux élèves de choisir des activités qui correspondent à leurs centres d’intérêt.
Details:
- Schedule : Du lundi au vendredi, heures post-scolaires dans les écoles d’accueil.
- Key events : Représentations culminantes en décembre 2024, Mois de l’histoire des Noirs et spectacle de fin d’année.
Activities on offer:
- Visual and performing arts : Production de films, danse, step, théâtre, musique, arts de la parole, tambour, production de pièces et de théâtre.
- Sports : Basket-ball, football, volley-ball.
Program 2: College Access and Awareness Program
This program is meticulously crafted to empower International Baccalaureate students (10th to 12th grade) with the skills and knowledge necessary for college admissions.
Year 1: Foundation for Success (DP-1)

Students participate in service projects, develop their CVs, and engage in internships that align with their
career aspirations, while also receiving support for scholarship applications.
Year 2: Pathway to Excellence (DP-2)

Activities :
In Year 2, students receive targeted support for the college application process, including workshops on
essay writing, interview preparation, and resume building, ensuring they present themselves as
competitive candidates
Program 3: College Tour in the US for 10th-12th Grade Students
This program provides students with the unique opportunity to visit colleges in the United States, enhancing their understanding of different educational environments.
Tour Schedule:
- Dates : December, April, June
- Activities : Include:Campus tours, meetings with admissions officers, and workshops on the American college experience.
Program 4: Summer Camp Cultural Exchange in New York (July, August)
Experience an unforgettable summer in upstate New York and NYC! This four-week camp offers outdoor adventures, cultural workshops, and leadership activities. Forge meaningful connections with peers from diverse backgrounds while developing essential life skills and embracing global citizenship. Join us for a summer of fun, growth, and friendship!
Program 5: Summer Camp Cultural Exchange in Dakar (August)
Join our Summer Camp Cultural Exchange in Dakar for two weeks of sleep-away fun in Mbour and two weeks of day camp in Dakar! Engage in exciting cultural activities, develop leadership skills, and make friends from around the world. This program is a perfect blend of adventure and personal growth—don’t miss out on this enriching experience!
Program 6: Saturday English Immersion Program (Every Saturday at our Center in Parcelle)
Unlock new opportunities with our free Saturday English Immersion Program for financially disadvantaged youth! Join us for language lessons, educational trips, sports, and arts activities. Culminate the year with an exciting performance to showcase your skills. Build confidence, make friends, and explore your potential in a supportive community!
